Vintage Folding Caravan

...and a Jag!

This week’s video is one that means a lot to me for a variety of reasons and it’s one that I’m sure you’ll all love. It was wild, wacky, and a little bit nostalgic.

It was another week of firsts for me; the first time I’d driven my Grandfather’s Jaguar XJ40 and the first time I slept in a folding caravan. You read that right, a bloody folding caravan. I didn’t even know such things existed!

I met a lovely lady called Mary, the proud owner of a French vintage folding caravan, and because I needed to borrow a car to tow it I jumped at the chance to borrow my Grandfather’s old Jag.

It was such a unique feeling of connecting with this man who I’d never met through sharing his passion for cars. Unfortunately he passed away in 1990 before I was born, so this was the closest I could feel to him.

It was the perfect car to pair with Mary’s caravan and boy did it get some looks. Stealth camping this definitely wasn’t. We couldn’t have been more eye-catching.

Every time we parked up I found myself answering people’s questions about the Jaguar and the folding caravan. And before you wonder, yes it was bloody flimsy compared to my van and it was a hell of an experience.

I hope you join me this Sunday to share my experiences of this incredible setup. There are plenty of cock-ups and meeting Mary was an incredible experience. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!
