Stealth Camping

Sheila the Agila

This Sunday’s video sees me returning to stealth camping in another tiny car. What could go wrong? As it turns out, quite a few things!

This is a vehicle I’ve really been looking forward to trying out ever since meeting the owners, Doug and Alex, about 2-3 years ago. As soon as I saw it, I was genuinely inspired and excited by it.

Incredibly, they’ve taken a tiny Vauxhall Agila and transformed it into a fantastic car camper. You can tell the amount of thought that’s gone into each tiny detail. Everything about it is just incredible.

They originally bought it for £450 and kitted it out with a simple camping setup. It shows that you don’t have to spend thousands on a van to enjoy the freedom of travelling.

It was such an adventure filming this one. Even with a few cock ups, it was so enjoyable. I can imagine taking a stealth camper like this and doing the Mongol Rally or the Peking to Paris, which it’s ideally suited to.

This was, without doubt, the smallest vehicle I’ve slept inside, but with how it was laid out, it didn’t feel that cramped. Every spare millimetre of space in it has been put to good use.

The outdoor kitchen setup was great, too. No more crouching inside while I burn myself on the cooker. Using the outside shower however, was chaotic and definitely NSFW.

To find a suitable park up, we pretended we were fishermen arriving early for the next morning’s fishing. It was nerve-wracking, especially when the security guard locked the gate, but we got away with it.

Join me as usual this Sunday at 6 p.m. for my stealthiest camp of the season so far.
