Sparks Fly

VW ID Buzz

This week, it's been a welcome relief to get back into a proper campervan rather than trying to squeeze myself into a car camper. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the smaller setups, they feel cosier, but they can sometimes be a bit cramped.

Also, I couldn't turn down the opportunity to get my hands on a campervan version of the fully electric ID Buzz. This was my first experience driving an electric vehicle, and it definitely didn't disappoint.

While the layout in the back is typical of these campervans, the cockpit was out of this world. It felt futuristic to drive this one, especially after being used to Mary.

As well as the standard features, this ID Buzz has a unique kitchen setup. From the inside, everything looks standard. However, opening one of the side doors means you can pull the kitchen outside and cook al fresco.

We were also fortunate to be able to put it through its paces in the glorious Welsh countryside. The park-up was incredible, and I loved the contrast of being in nature with the latest campervan technology. It seemed perfect.

Surprisingly, as well, there weren't that many cockups. We avoided fly infestations and running out of power. It would be interesting in the future, though, to see how this setup copes with colder weather, especially since it has an electric heater.

This episode goes live at 6 p.m. as usual this Sunday. Let me know what you think of it in the comments. Would you trust a fully electric campervan or not?
