Pure Luxury

Who trusted me with this?!?!

After the gale force winds of Wales and the cramped conditions of the tiny Teardrop Camper, this week’s setup offered some much-needed luxury. To say it was bloody impressive is a massive understatement.

This week we journeyed to Nottingham and visited Rob and the team at Oak Tree Motorhomes. We go back a long way as they’ve previously helped with the conversion of Mary, and it was great to catch up with the guys there.

They’d kindly offered to let me borrow one of their motorhomes for the night. They’ve got so many motorhomes and campervans I felt like I was in heaven.

As we toured around their stock, I was impressed by the variety of setups and layouts. They had everything, from a top-of-the-range coach that cost £320,000 when new, all the way down to one that felt as homely as visiting my grandma’s house.

Ultimately, I opted for a touch of class with one of the larger luxury setups, and it didn’t disappoint. As I pulled out of the yard, I couldn’t help but wonder who in their right mind would trust me with this.

While getting a good night’s sleep during this new series was amazing, it felt too luxurious. There’s a lot to be said for the personality of a self-built van, and that was probably the only thing missing from this.

Not to worry, though, for all the mod cons and high-end fixtures and fittings, I still managed to cock a few things up. It would have been great to have a shower, especially in a vehicle this expensive. But because I’m always so underprepared, I stupidly forgot to fill the water tank before setting off.

Now that I’m getting settled into the workflow of these new videos, I’ve been considering adding another video each week. Nothing fancy, just a mid-week dose of me in Mary covering topics you enjoy.

With that in mind, I want your feedback on what you want to see. How about ‘Rate my…..’ where you can submit photos of your setups, park-ups, and anything else for me to discuss? How about van build videos, upgrades, product reviews, or something else?

The production values will be rough and ready, just me and my camera, and the content will be honest and direct as always. What do you think? Please give me your candid feedback and suggestions by replying to this newsletter or clicking the poll below.

Thanks again for all of your support.
